Getting the Most from Your Web Hosting

September 19th, 2011 · No Comments · General News

Most hosting corporations offer several email accounts with your hosting service. These e-mail accounts are a gaping hole for conmen, con artists, and other villains to slide thru milk your naivety, and presumably pilfer your valuable private info or sabotage your computer’s operations.

Phishing : One sort of such criminality is phishing where e-mails appear in your account that, by all rights, have been sent from a trustworthy company with which you do business ( i.e. a fiscal establishment, an merchant, or your host provider ) claiming that your private info wants updating in their records. A link inserted in the e-mail takes you to a website page that mimics that company’s web site.

If you do not know any better, and your host provider does not catch it, you are responsible to transfer such valuable private info as your password and Visa card number to a criminal. But many hosting suppliers include software in their hosting packages that may notice and intercept such schemes before you ever have to see them.

Viruses: Another insidious crime is the sending of viruses thru e-mail attachments. We have all heard about viruses, and customers and hosting corporations alike frequently depend on such tools as Norton Antivirus to protect their system (s). But your host provider can frequently give you further protection. Having a firewall as an element of your hosting package, for example, is a useful source of confidence. Spam: And then there’s spam. Yuck! We are all done with it (your hosting provider sure is) and yet so many corporations still do not appear to get it, continuing to spew it out indiscriminately.

Well, you should not have to address spam any more, and many hosting corporations are seeing to it. Spam filters permit hosting corporations to note suspicious e-mails as an example, ones they’ve been sent out en masse to a list, or ones sent from addresses that do not match any in your private addresses book. Some hosting company’s spam filters can even learn over to time to match an expanding list compiled partly by you and partly by your host provider of unsolicited and unwelcome senders. Text research technology permits your host provider to check the content in mails sent to you to find out impersonal, focused selling pitches, regularly matching those sent to others of their hosting clients. Then you let your host provider know whether to instantly remove suspicious mails from your account or stick them in a different mailbox for you to study at your convenience. Keep under consideration, spam isn’t just aggravating, it may also be deadly. Spam can contain viruses that’ll infect your system before you or your hosting supplier even notice there is a problem. Your mail is personal, and so is your dear personal info. If your hosting company does not protect your mailbox like Brink’s security, find another hosting supplier.

There are lots.
